Welcome friends! My name is India. Marriage, Men and Me- Grow Through What You Go Through is where I share my journey of self discovery through life’s most complex relationships.
I’ve been married three times (third time the charm), and with each experience there were lessons learned and for that I don’t have any regrets. You remember that old saying: “experience is the best teacher”, having those experiences helped to liberate me from the burden of past hurt. Many of us carry around the weight of failed relationships, but I wear my failed marriages as a badge of honor and you can too!
This space is about embracing the ups and downs of relationships. Learning to put myself first for a change, setting boundaries and understanding that saying that’s not OK is an act of self love.
My first marriage was the foundation of my growth. I married after being together with my children’s father for 10 years. We stayed married for eight years and we’re separated for two years before we were legally divorced. That’s 20 years of love and friendship. In fact, to this day my first husband and I are pretty much best friends.
I was married to my second husband for almost 10 years. We got married on Mother’s Day in 2013, it wasn’t planned that way, but our wedding date just so happened to fall on that day. I filed for divorce in December of 2022 and the divorce was final in June of 2023. That’s 9 1/2 years of love and togetherness. Unfortunately, me and husband number two are not friends.
Remember that cliché I mentioned earlier about the “third time being the charm” well this takes us to husband number three! A true love story that I promise to tell you about later. I married my current husband after rekindling a childhood crush that we had for one another more than 30 years ago! We bumped into each other one night in February of 2023 and we got married in September of 2023. Yes, that’s correct, I got divorce and remarried in the same year.
As I reflect on all these experiences and the woman I’ve become there’s one constant source of light and guidance I must honor. This blog is lovingly, dedicated to my mom for always being there to listen to my problems without judging me, being there to comfort me as I cried in her arms most importantly, teaching me about God and helping me to develop a close person relationship with Him, and how important it is to pray. Ultimately because of that love, comfort and spiritual guidance that has helped shape me into the person. I am today thank you, Mom from the deepest part of my heart. I love you.
Thank you
